23/09 - Domaine Kientzler Wine Dinner

Based in Ribeauvillé, Domaine Kienztler is a serious family domaine, now in its fifth generation. Eric Kientzler is the incumbent, and he continues the tradition of making linear, vibrant, terroir-driven whites of class and longevity. The jewel in the vineyard crown is the Grand Cru vineyard of Geisberg, which produces exemplary Rieslings. The domaine has a very healthy smattering of old vines with over 80% of its vines at least 40 years old, and they adorn the various slopes that shape the beautiful surrounding countryside. Kientzler wines age very well, thanks to their structure and acidity. These are not ubiquitous Alsacien gluggers but highly thought out, complex wines of personality and depth.
