Orange Dinner - 15/03

We're delighted to put together a special evening on Tuesday 15th March celebrating the fruit, and general vicinity of Orange, or Aurenja in Occitan, with a beautiful three-course menu paired to some of our favourite show-stopping Rhône wines that hail from the region.

Many of the towns dotted around the French Riviera and its surrounding countryside host traditional annual fêtes, including the popular lemon festival in Menton and the ExpoRose (celebrating roses) in Grasse. In Châteauneuf there's an autumnal celebration of pumpkins and in the town of le Bar sur Loup there's a rather glorious celebration of the native orange trees with la Fête de l’Oranger - no doubt copious amounts of Triple Sec and Grand Marnier are consumed!

For our dinner, we're combining age-old tradition with superb local cuisine and some fantastic wines from the vineyards of the nearby Rhône valley.  There's a wonderful nod to citrus in every dish on Julien's menu, and we've teamed up with the excellent Domaine de Monteillet and prestigious estate of Jean-Luc Colombo (both northern Rhône) for the wine!  

We start with a cured stone-bass paired with a tropical, floral, and well-balanced white from the Saint Péray, the smallest appellation in the Northern Rhone Valley.  For our main, there's a seasonal Arctic 'Skrei' cod cooked à l'Orange and paired to a superb Saint-Joseph from the Monteillet estate.  There's a Fourme d'Ambert from Mons for those wanting a (welcome) cheese interlude, followed by a deliciously light, orange-flavoured polenta cake paired to a fragrant Condrieu from the very same Monteiller estate.

As always, reservations start from 5:45pm with bookings available throughout the night.  You can reserve our private dining room at no extra cost and there's room to book in for an Aperol-based aperitif at Baranis before your meal!
