Kilikanoon: new world, old vines

September is the perfect time to bring you to the picturesque site of Clare Valley,

If ever there was a list of Australian terroirs, Clare Valley would be near the top,
The viticultural history of this South Australia’s region dates back to 1851 when the first vines were planted by Jesuit settlers,
The numerous sub regions of the valley itself exhibit individual micro-climates that particularly favour Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache grapes,
Temperature, soil makeup and altitude all contribute to the esoteric nature of Clare Valley terroir,

Kilikanoon estate is about a family legacy entrenched in the vine : father and son, Mort and Kevin Mitchell, have a long association with grapegrowing and winemaking,
Mort Mitchell was renowned as one of the Clare Valley’s most experienced and meticulous grapegrowers,
Kevin Mitchell spent his formative years amongst vines ans it was almost inevitable he would end up working alongside his father,

Kevin purchased the Kilikanoon property in 1997 and has built it into an esteemed producer of high-calibre wines, each with their own exceptionnal style, character and flavour,

A night putting together Haute Couture wines and a surprisingly autumnal menu concocted by Chef,
